Hello, my full name is Michael Bolton Flautt, Jr. and I am not related to the famous singer Michael Bolton or the character from Office Space. I go by my middle name ‘Bolton’ because my dad is Michael Bolton Flautt, Sr., and he goes by ‘Michael’. I was born on a cotton farm in Mississippi in a tiny farming community named Swan Lake to my mother Hedy and father Michael. I am the oldest of three children with a younger brother named Alben whom lives in Charleston, Mississippi with his wife and three children (two girls and a boy) and a younger sister named Clansey, who lives in Houston, Texas.
I am currently enrolled in the graduate program at Grand Canyon University with a focus on obtaining a Masters of Science in Professional Counseling. I have a Bachelor in Business Administration with a minor in Economics from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi (2001). Currently, I am employed by Pathfinders Recovery Center in Scottsdale, Arizona with the title of Behavioral Health Paraprofessional. My focus is working with a group of young men in dealing with the early stages of recovery from substance abuse and mental health issues. I lead group and individual sessions under direct supervision from our Clinical Director, who is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
My hobbies include the following: golf, softball, basketball, shooting, exercise, fishing, hunting, reading, bowling, disc golf, hiking, running, service work/volunteering, travel, and Face time with my nieces and nephew in Mississippi. Every August, my father and I travel to Alaska for the sockeye salmon run on the Kenai River. We fish in blue, glacier water with bald eagles soaring overhead and grizzly bears swatting salmon out of the water and onto the bank just downriver. The scenery also includes moose, mountains, glaciers, and volcanoes when we steam out in the Gulf of Alaska to catch halibut, rockfish, and cod. The biggest treat besides the quality time spent with my father is that we bring back hundreds of pounds of fresh salmon and halibut to cook and share with family and friends.
When Google was in its early days of raising money and pounding the pavement, the founders recognized the necessity to have a simple description of the business model, which could be easily transmitted to a prospective investor during a quick elevator ride. So, during many elevator rides when a potential investor would ask ‘What is Google?’ – the founders would simply say ‘Search’. The reason I am pursuing this field of study and career path for my elevator ride through life can be simply stated with the word: ‘Help’.
Thank you for reading my biography and Godspeed on your journey through life…
